Thanks JonM. I do realize that. Im talking about parts that improve function and ergonomics such as RDS mounts, AR style buffer tubes and stocks, magazine releases, rails, pistol grips, etc... Look at the newer, higher quality muzzle devices from places like Spikes Tac. and BattleComp. Or how about the stuff Mission First Tac. is putting out for the AK. Or even US Palm w/ their pistol grips and magazines. That kinda stuff. Not the only for compliance no real difference in performance parts.

ahh i see. im a noob to the ak world got two ak pattern guns neither is a ak47 heh. psl and saiga12. ive been reading a lot trying to educate myself on ak type issues and parts. i may get another saiga in 20ga for the wife and do the conversion myself. it looks like fun. she expressed a lot of interest in it.

That seems high for an Arsenal. Why the Arsenal over the AR?

BIG DIFFERENCE. The 5.45 may be a bit softer than the 5.56, but it's not really noticeable.

$1400 for an Arsenal is way high and if truth be told,I imagine a WASR-10/63 will do anything an Arsenal will, it just wont look as pretty and will never be worth as much.

Plus all an Arsenal is, is a factory converted Saiga.

What no Mini 14 fans out there?

The Mini's are tough to beat and definitely worth looking into. You can get it in either caliber, and you can change the stock to whatever after purchase.

I keep getting caught in the ak vs ar debate. Please don't turn this into one. I have heard too many horror stories about both sides. I would love to be able to handle them but some places that is an issue because they won't allow me to handle anything with a pistol grip. Something that I can convert after purchase would also be a better option. If you have any suggestions it would be appreciated. I would prefer 223/5.56 but 7.62x39 is also an option. Thanks.
One HUGE question everyone seemed to have forgotten to ask you is this; what is the PURPOSE of this firearm? Is it for plinking? Is it for defense? A training weapon? Maybe a SHTF scenario? Before you choose what you are looking for, decide what you plan on using it for. Once this question is answered i'm sure we could all better assist you.
