Guns must be "stored" in an approved safe. Ammo locked in separate box or safe within safe (I have this). The pistols are separate from long guns in a safe within the safe. You can keep long gun ammo with pistols and vice versa. You can only shoot an intruder who has a gun. Force used must be equal. Fist for fist. Blade for blade. I have less then lethal shells, pepper spray fog and various weapon blades and swords. You can buy pistol cartridges with pepper spray tips too. Now if someone is stealing your long gun while hunting, you can shoot them (think terrorism). You have to warn them, shoot a warn shot, then shoot them. I might be dyslexic with the rule that day. Who would know? gIf I hear a bump in the night. I would get both my shotty with rubber shells and my AR. I can get them out of my safe (very near me) and loaded in few minutes. I practiced. By the time they get upstairs, I will be ready. Oh, the rule says stored. Maybe one of my guns was being cleaned and umm..had to leave it outside the safe....and....Mr. Officer...I have this "locked" storage box out because the safe is full....then I heard a noise downstairs.....

The FD is literally right down the street. I still keep fire extinguishers in the house and cars along with medical kits.

I already have well-designed clubs, better known as baseball bats. I keep firearms I intend to use fully loaded.

I use my Makarov.
I don't keep one in the chamber, but I do keep a loaded 10 rnd magazine in it with Hornady's Critical Defense ammo.

Ken
PS: I also have a loaded 30 round magazine ready for the sks.

Bed side handgun ready to go, AR-15 in the gun cabinet next to the bed with a full mag under the bolt and safety off, one pull of the charging handle and it's rock and roll time.

Jim
