bargeahead, General Patton was famous for announcing that he had read General Rommel's book. Do you have any info regarding whether General Patton had written a similar tactical tank warfare book, & whether General Rommel may have read Patton's? I'm curious, & thanx, jd45

Being an official old fart and having lost countless brain cells I'm at a loss here.

No scientific testing, but an acquaintance of mine had a Marlin Camp Carbine in .45 that we ran some rounds through into wet phone books. We also ran the same rounds through a Sig 220. The rounds coming out of his longer barrel were displaying greater expansion, greater diameter cavities in the phone books, and deeper penetration. So there may be some extra velocity to capture out of a slightly longer barrel. Also, if you are hand loading, you could ensure the use of some slower burning powder to get more velocity out of the carbine.

Secondly, it's an excellent idea about using a handload with a lightweight JHP at super high speed to make it frangible in the target medium. I used to load 180JHPs in my .44MAG Browning B-92. The only downside was that I'd blind myself when I shot em at night, cause, believe you me, 32GRS of H110 will give a muzzle-flash as bright as the sun! jd45
I wasn't sure if the humor was going to come through in text.

Time for a vacation to Vegas! Ranges have everything form SBRs to full autos. Last I went, I shot a M249 and AK 47, like they were meant to be used. Couldn't stop grinning for days.

2nd honey moon perhaps?
