Beautiful rifles! How much did they set you back?

Only a small portion of my re-enlistment bonus

I was planning on picking up an LRB M25, but decided to build/have built the Norinco M14 into what she is now, and pick up a Socom instead. (My wife loves it.)

As it turns out, I prefer the ARMS 18 mount over the "built in" LRB mount. It sets a tad lower, and makes the cheek weld build up less. I also prefer to roll with USGI synthetic stocks. I fill in the selector switch hole, (One less place for gunk to reach the trigger group), and strengthen the forestock area. My cheek weld build up is butt ugly, (A piece of hard foam and 100mph tape), but it does the trick.....
I do love the look of wood-n-steel however. I recently sold a Norinco AK47S, and Polytech M14 to pick up this one....

SAI M1A Bush rifle. All the major parts minus bbl/reciever are USGI, with some sweet lookin wood to include the hand guard.

The M-14 is alive and still serving.

My preferred kit:

For a long gun, HK-91, with some work, a bipod, and a big scope.

Short gun, M1A/M14, or a Henry/Winchester 92 in .308 or 30/30.

And throw in a worked over Remington 870 3 inch, with a 1911 .45 or something like a Javelina 10mm or Desert Eagle alongside, for the REALLY short stuff.

But since the original question was, if you could only have one, I pick AKM of a quality build and some stuff for comfort. Either 47 or 74 is fine with me.

I'm on a budget. I had to sell my SA M1A Scout Squad. I have a 1943 Springfield M1 Garand now. It doesn't have the M1A's capacity, but 8 rounds of .30-06 is nothing to sneeze at either.

The M14 is king.

I'd like to see another "Battle Rifle" that will do that.
This one was built by Accuracy Speaks.

Default Scope Question

For my fellow M1A devotees: I am asked to make scope suggestion to a new owner of new, slim barrel, M1A for 300 yard + defense purposes.

I can only give him my M3 scope use - a bit coarse for that range, or the Leatherwood-far too slow for multiple perps- so what do you suggest???
