I don't see how an annoying sound can make you dislike a weapon system. Does it shoot every time? Does it (or you) hit what your aiming at? Those would be the main concerns. My cousin has a .50 Beowulf upper he hunts with. You should hear the spring rattle shooting that. But man is a blast to shoot.

Actually, sorry, don't think too many of us are that

interested in parsing technical terms. The fact we know how

it works is more important to us.

Did you know that

when Magnum Research made the Desert Eagle, they emulated

the cycling system of the AR? Cool, huh?

Sorry, rifleman77, I've got a lot of rifles, shoot a lot, and this

whole "Bap!-ka-boing" thing is novel to me. I'll probably get used

to it.

No... If it's not your regular shooter, you'll never get used to it... You'll just learn to not be alarmed by it.

For the record though, I can hear the same coming from am AK. I just hear it in front of my face, instead of right next to my jaw.

Ehhh. The noises guns make. I'm just pleased as a puppy with

two peters it's not a problem.

My marlin 60 sounds like an old electric typewriter

going about 200 WPM, when it's cycling quickly.

There are a lot of "seriously dead" people who were hit with the "not-so-serious" 556 from an AR rifle or carbine. We can question all of them about why their reliable AK's and Mosin Nagant's didn't save them in the next life. Strangely, the Soviets didn't think light caliber ammo or light weight carbines were such bad ideas.
LOL! I appreciate the tip to make the "rifle" quit zinging at me! While waiting for my order, I think I'll try that recording idea. :-P

I agree with you that there are many dead by 5.56. However, if America had adopted .17 HMR as its military round, the same could be said of that caliber.

The 5.56 round was a lightweight compromise for the changing face of ground warfare. Being lighter, a soldier could carry more rounds and the effective ranges were much shorter. My PERSONAL choice is for the longer range, harder hitting .30 calibers. However, I am 6'4" and 230 lbs, so carrying them all day is not nearly as taxing. I fully realize the usefulness of the 5.56 round and the AR system, they are just not my personal favorites.

You should look to getting a buffer on your recoil spring of your ak. That load rap every shot is the bolt carrier slapping the rear trunion. It will cut down on wear and tear too. They are like $10 on amazon.
