I was concerned about this when I started with the .308s, so I called DPMS and they told me that it doesn't matter about 7.62X51 and .308. I brought up the discussion of 5.56 vs .223 and he said it's not the same with 7.62. Maybe the people at DPMS are idiots.

The DPMS has a .308 chamber and can be used with either type ammo.

I was questioning because my barrel is marked 7.62x51. Those dorks said that there's no difference.

In a DPMS it doesn't matter which you shoot, because all of their chambers are cut for a 308,so shooting 7.62x51 rounds is a gimme.
What brand of barrel do you have?

I must not have made this clear enough. DPMS told me there is no difference between 7.62X51 and .308 rounds. Not only on their firearms, but all.

That's why I said the people at DPMS must be idiots. Dang, a broken record already.
