This is my ar, and visibly the only difference is the back of the pistol grip. To me, it's the better option, but I guess fellow commiefornians want the easy way out.

Its just a loophole someone found in a cali law that let's you use ars there. The law basically says that you must require a "tool" to remove a magazine from a gun. This basically just prevents you from manipulating the release without the aid of a "tool", in this case a bullet thet depresses a smaller mag catch that a finger can't get to.
