Default alternative to ar 15

I want a 5.56/.223 rifle but i dont want an ar15 and i dont want to spend a fortune. What are some options. What have u got for me

On the low end, the Kel-Tec carbine comes to mind.

Look at these:

Kel-Tec SU-16 series. $600-$800

Saiga 5.56 $400-$550

Romanian 5.56 AK from century $750

What?!?!!? Nobody has mentioned the mini yet?... That's just unamerican... The mini 14 should be at the top of your list

Sorry. Not a fan really.

Plus around here people want too much for mini's. I figure the prices are still high on the mini everywhere.

On the high end beretta mr1. Uses ar mags and has way different look than an ar

Early model mini 14s are around $550 to $700 here. Late models with the improved barrel are a little more.
