The anti-gun left have bastardized the term assault rifle and used it against us. Heck they have bastardized the term assault and attached it to all sorts of firearms...Assault pistol, assault shotgun, assault knife.

We as a gun owning fraternity should not allow such words to be used to be used against us. Sport Utility Rifle (SUR) is the current trend. Black rifle is cool too.

i'm with robo on this, as i hate the term "assault rifle". if i shoot someone with a single shot 22, in theory, it's an assault rifle! this term is just a word the media and politicians have used to describe a certain type of weapon, to try and show it to public as being evil and wrong.

there is a company that cranks out a couple hundred semi auto belt fed PKM every so often. the PKM is the soviet equivelent of the M60 and uses the 7.62x54R

got to fire a full auto version in the army its a hoot and a half.

i dont since they are not designed to assault people.

there has only ever been one rifle designed that is specifically an "assault" rifle. the Sturmgewehr 44, it translates out from german as assault rifle model 1944.

the ar10 and ar15 are armalite rifle model 10 and armalite rifle model 15. no assault anywhere in the name. the ak47 is not an assault rifle either. its full name is Avtomat Kalashnikova (Автомат Калашникова) model 1947. which translate out to automatic rifle designed by kalishnakov. no assault in the name there either.

since the term "assault rifle" is linked solely to nazi germany its little wonder the news media tars every firearm with that term.

please dont use it unless your referring to a stg44
