I have been interested in buying a 410 semi auto for home defense. It seemed like it would give me versitility and a little extra punch. After looking at the ballistics I realized that the two were very similar. Hot 115gr 9mm's typically fly from 1200-1400fps. 1/4 oz, (109gr) 410 slugs go a little faster, 1500-1800fps. So what the hell is the difference??????? 410 is bulky, 9mm is small and compact. 410 is expemsive to shoot, 9mm is cheap to shoot. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE ELSE?

Hi-Point carbines run in the $200-$225 range and come in 9mm, .40, & .45. I don't have one but most of the on-line comments I've read regarding their reliability run more positive than with Hi-Point handguns. You can get a reliable relatively-cheap-to-shoot SKS for that price too IF YOU WANT more range and power. ('Course with these you won't have the buckshot option you have with the .410.) I'm just sayin'...
