Default .308 sbr?!?

I was thinking about getting one of the HK clones, like the ptr91 in sbr configuration. But, will the .308 perform in such a short barrel? I thought it was designed to be used in a longer barrel, where the powder has a better chance to fully do it's job before the bullet exits. Thoughts?!?

Muzzle flash would be significant. You could hand load with faster purning powder to maximize efficiency with a shorter barrel.
