The Savage rifles have an excellent reputation for accuracy. I have two and they are both superb.

LOL. I worked night shift for 26 years, I'll drink almost anything with caffeine in it.

DefaultBest 308

It all depends what your purpose is. Mine is defense with a lot of friendly competition thrown in for fun. Defense means semi-auto for highest volume of fire, not bolt action. It means magazines and a good scope. It means a suppressor if you want, a muzzle brake, at least. It means looking at which weapons are used in (and have been proven by) the military and which ones are not. It means the best trade-off between accuracy and reliability. It means the "loaded" M1A.

I like my bolt guns like my Remington 40X Sniper Rifle, and Savage Predator Model . But one thing that I do not believe has been mentioned is another real accurate rifle. However it is an AR Design. That is the Rock River Arms LAR-8 308 in stainless 20in. Bull Barrel. It is also excellent for long range! And has the RRA 2 Stage NM Trigger in it also. I have a 16" that is a 1 MOA Rifle. Just a thought!
