300 blackout or 308 ?

I am looking at my first AR. I have a 700 tactical in 308 an am leaning that way for my AR.But after reading up on the 300 blackout I am thinking that might be the way to go. Do you think in the future that the 300 will be as available as the 308 and around the same cost or cheaper to shoot??

I have had a 300blk for a while now, not that ownership means much. I have only put just under 300 rounds so I can't say much more than I really like the round. You won't have the range of .308 but that's not what it wss designed for. What are your needs?

I would like to do a little hunting, but mostly range time maybe some tactical shoots. If the 300 does not have the Range of a 308 I guess I will go with the 308.Thanks

The 300blk was designed to shoot a large projectile out of a short barreled suppressed AR. Same bullet, different purpose.

Having an Armalite AR10 and LMT M4, the AR10 is definitely the better hunting gun. Especially for feral hogs and such. Now a 300 Whisper or such would be great for suppressed, thermal or nightscoped, night time hunting. But in the daytime, a good ole AR10 is a handy little tool as long as the game you are after is legal with 20 round mags. And fun to shoot at the range. Nothing quite like the muzzle blast of a 308 out of a 16" barrel.
