Video - Shooting the 1860 Henry Rifle

This is part 1 of my series on early lever action rifles. Part 2 will be on Spencer rifles.

The Henry was the first successful, cartridge firing repeating rifle. It was used prominently in some of the battles of Red Cloud's war in 1866 and 1867 on the Bozeman Trail.

I had to stop the video as his loading skills are an accident waiting to happen. Never load the gun the way shown in this video!!!! You load the gun pointing down range and almost flat as you feed your rounds into the magazine one at a time. Never drop a cartridge in the way shown as a high primer will set it off. The gun being loaded with your hand over the magazine will result in the loss of that hand or fingers. I just felt that this safety issue should be addressed asap. Marv
