Trail Boss shock

Wow, I got a shock last night. I came back from the Chamber of Commerce meeting and noticed that Bull City Gun shop was still open and so I pulled in to visit with the proprietor, and noticed he had some Trail Boss so I grabbed a jug and headed up to the check out. $19+tax, $21 or so out the door, then I read it,,,9 ounces....What? That's $39 and a dime for a pound.

That stuff is good but it aint that good.....

I'm going to order a 5 pound jug from Brownells if this stuff works as good as I think it will. Less than $100 for 5 Pounds with flat rate shipping.

Its because trail boss is so light... That 9 oz is close to equivalent to a pound...

It's fluffy, ok,,,equivalent by volume, but if you weigh your charges, it only goes half as far.

I habe any BP stuff So I dont know about that... Ive used it in 30-30 and 30-40, and it seems to last a long time...

Trail Boss isnt BP, it is smokeless that they use in the Cowboy matches to duplicate BP loads. But the place where it shines is n your larger centerfire cases for reduced power loads. You can take a .308 and fill it with Trailboss under a 148 gr fmj and get about 1400 fps with no recoil to speak of...It is a great tool for starting children or women who would be timid around loud bangs and recoil. Thats why I posted that heads up on the bullets. Using this powder you can make up reduced power loads for less than 30c each.

Trail boss in a 30-30 trapper here. No recoil, less blast, more fun. For cowboy shooting and plinking it is the best. I also use in .45 colt Blackhawk for same reason. Thinking of trying it my .45 automatic...

What load do you use for the 30-30?...

Chill, chill. 9 oz of TB goes as far as a pound of regular powder. It is very light and fluffy and charge weights are very light, but voluminous.

Use caution as it is so light it sometimes does not fall through powder funnels. Visually check your charges.
