I got into muzzle loading when I first shot an old Tingle muzzle loading pistol back around '70. The smoke and smell got to me and I was hooked. I prefer the traditional muzzle loaders although there is nothing wrong with the modern inlines, but the feeling of shooting the type of firearm that Dan'l Boone or Jeremiah Johnson used, is just a lot of fun. They can be very finicky, but you figure out what works best for you and go from there. If you have ever been to any NMLRA Rendezvous, it is a lesson in living history and a great deal of fun. Some of the period and Indian clothing is quite striking and the time and effort put into the craft is amazing. I shoot everything from modern self-loaders to my home made longbows,, just shoot and enjoy.
