I wasn't using the best type of wood, but the velocities I measured were comparable to Goex 3F..... the downside of using the Acacia twigs from my yard, was that the powder wasn't as clean-burning as the store-bought stuff. I can live with that, I don't shoot dozens/hundreds of rounds during a single outing.
Black willow is supposed to be the best.
