Hi Guys, I have a pistol that needs some identifying. It belongs to a friend of mine who has no idea what it is. We do know that it is a break barrel black powder pistol. Brass frame with steel barrel and wood grips. It is .50 cal. It says “made in Italy” on one side of the barrel. And there are marking on the other side of the barrel. (see pics). Since it’s made in Italy, I’m assuming that this is either an Uberti or a Pietta replica pistol. Any info on this pistol would be greatly appreciated!

I don't believe I have ever seen one before. Could be a piece of a revolver that someone put a BP barrel on. Hawg is very sharp on this BP stuff. I expect he will be here shortly.

Well, made in 1978 (AD in square) and been proofed at the two Italian proof houses for BP. The maker's mark should be the double diamond, and I do not know that one F. LLI Pietta uses a diamond, with FAP in the diamond. Uberti is a U. Pedersoli a DP.
