First- welcome! Glad you found your way to us!

Second, we need good, high pixel closeups of all sides, and any markings. Right now, can say this appears to be a turn-barrel caplock pistol- barrel unscrews, is loaded with a lead ball, loose powder, screwed back on, and a percussion cap placed on the nipple. Cannot offer much more without more info from you.

Many of this type gun were called a 'muff pistols'. Most were made in the 1840's to maybe the 1870's. Many many came from Europe. You will likely never know who made gun as very few had a maker's name. Or know exactly when or where it was made. It will likely (if made in Europe) have some odd stampings of different shapes that might include numbers and letters. These are called proof marks and can be invaluable in getting more information on the gun.
