Hi there I was hoping that someone could give me a hand with identifying this musket.

Definately British. The crown proof is a give away. The "S" on the front of the lock likely indicates it was deemed unserviceable at some point. Looks like a Pattern 53 Enfield. Many were shipped to the Confederacy during the Civil War.
