You have a beautiful rifle, looks very much like mine, but like you say, they are different. Mine has leman on the sideplate. I have one more original Cap n Ball, it was My Great Grandfathers who was in the Texas 11th Inf. It still Shoots Great, Would Llke to shoot the Leman someday but would leary about it. g24t

Hell yes you made one fine buy. The lock makers name has nothing to do with the type or school that defines your rifle. The gun smiths bought parts and put them together. You research the school or style not the lock makers name to decide the School of the builder. Pre Civil War rifles made in the south tended to use English imported locks. Not always. This gets confusing as German tradesman moved south and used American made locks before 1860.

Towboater the East Tenn. SMR has a matching pistol as well. The East Tenn, firearms make up many of my firearms.

Well it looks like a keeper, I guess it will go to the safe like all of my other guns and will go to my grandson hopefully many years in the future, thanks for all of the help.
