Just shot a percussion cap muzzy for the first time. Wow

Just shot one today for the first time and now I am hooked. It was so much fun shooting that gun I really want one now. The only problem is I don't know of many companies that make them and for a good price. What do you guys have?

Actually I have a Thompson/Center .50 Cal. It has been in the back of my safe for about 12 years. It was left to me when my step father died. I finally spent a little money and went to the range with it for the first time today. Shoot pretty well.

i have an american traditions .54 cal. not sure if it falls under the carbine name but it is a shorter barrel than some. ive used it to shoot 2 deer and then i traded up for my .308 for deer now. but it was accurate out to 100yds.. barked and left a huge cloud tho. haha. it still holds its place in my gun rack

Custom .54 Hawken blueprinted from an original.
Original pattern 1853 Enfield made in 1861.
Repro pattern 1853 Enfield.
Original Ancion 12 gauge SXS.
Rigarmi repro 1858 Remington New Model Army.44
Pietta CCH 1858 Remington NMA. 44
Pietta 1858 New Model Navy. 36
PR brass frame 1858 Remington NMN .36

I shoot a lot of black powder cartridges and shot shells too.

The Lyman Great Plains is the best rifle for the money. It's as close as you can get to a real Hawken in a reasonably priced production gun. The TC's, Investarms, CVA,s don't look anything like a Hawken.

I have a thompson center gray hawk in .54 cal and I have a pietta 1860 new army in .44 cal, they are both an absolute blast to shoot. I used to have a .50 cal hawken that was sweet to shoot as well, Check out cabelas, they have kits to where you and your son could have some father son gun build bonding they come with all parts you choose how to finish the stock and they are reasonable as well.
