Default I need help with the set trigger

I bought a used .50 cal cabelas hawkens rifle 2 weeks ago and have only been able to use the front trigger. When i set the rear set trigger and pull the front trigger, it releases the hammer into half cock, not all the way onto the nipple. i need to know how to fix this because it is a very heavy front trigger pull and i dont want to have to use the front trigger without setting it all the time.

There's an adjustment screw between the triggers. I don't remember which way is which. Just experiment.

There is suppose to be a "fly" that covers the half cock when the trigger is pulled it is a small piece of metal that freely moves as the tumbler is cocked or the sear is released.
