Default chain firing revolvers

Its igniting from one of two ways either both from ill fitting componets, the major one is ill fitting loose caps (mainly open top colt clones) and barely adiquate balls (they work forward out the cylinders on fireing is a big clue)
smothering goop on balls is mainly a lube item more than a chainfire issue.
My only issue with chain fire was firing #11 caps on a #10 nipple.

I found my CCI caps fit tite enuf they need to be forced on the nipples.
Ive Never had a chain fire with bare ball directly over powder and tite caps, loose caps is another story.
