I had never done it at an indoor range before but the owner said it was ok due to their air handler. Its an 11 ton unit with fans like in the lobby in the MIB movie. The fans are behind you and have such a force than they move the paper targets even at 14 yards.
As to why and how? Hawg answered that. __________________ "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise. I advise the gun. My indoor range has a fresh air system. It blows air down your back at an amazing speed so there is not much smoke to deal with from something like this.
Not sure where the big deal with shooting blackpowder in a centerfire revolver chambered for a cartridge that was designed around blackpowder. Can someone explain this to me?
Here are some loads for black powder direct from goex. http://www.goexpowder.com/images/LoadCharts/Cartridge-Pistol-Revolvers.pdf
A quick trip into google land will turn up 44 mag and 357 mag load data for black powder. Last edited by cpttango30; 04-26-2010 at 03:12 AM. |

Look at the residue on the gun and grips. Just my opinion, but I don't use a pair of pliers to hammer a nail. There are very affordable BP guns out there that don't spit hot powder back at the shooter. __________________ From C3Shooter:

I only shoot Black Powder .45 Long Colt cartridges in my Uberti Model P (Peacemaker replica). That is what the originals were designed to shoot, and it is a very fun experience, and pretty accurate at that. I only shoot at an outdoor range, and I frequently get comments (always favorable) when other shooters realize I am shooting BP loads. __________________ TXnorton |

The pistols are just a hoot and Spitty is right about the cleaning afterwards. But that is all part of the fun.

Isn't your inline a percussion rifle? |

I have a turn of the century American Bulldog that shoots the 44mag webly"s. It does mist you with black powder something awful too! __________________ "I know what you're thinking. Here's a .44 Rem Mag that does "mist" all within db range!
God I love that gun! Everyone should own a S&W 29-2 or at least shoot one with a really heavy load!

I personally love shooting black powder. I own a .50-caliber Hawkins, my dad has a Knight MK-85, .54-caliber, and I'm a Civil War re-enactor, so I shoot .577 Enfields both with blanks and I have with live loads.
To me, nothing beats black powder. And I mean true black powder. Pyrodex and Triple-7 just aren't the same for me. If I'm shooting black powder, I want the smoke, and the smell, and the taste of the sulfur. It's just part of the fun. Especially at re-enactments. It's just part of the deal.
But yes, black powder is a blast to shoot. |
