Best barrel length for .75?

Say you wanted to fire a roundball or shot of equal weight from a .75 caliber smooth bore, what barrel length would be the most efficient for getting optimum velocity with a minimum powder charge? Also, would you use FFG, FG, or a mixture between the two?

Cmon y'all, how long should I cut it?

I'm going to say 32 inches but thats only because that's how long my original shotgun barrels are. I don't understand using minimal charges tho, unless you're going to use minimal shot with them. A normal load is an equal amount of shot to powder by volume. A little less powder than shot will tighten a pattern and a little more powder than shot will open a pattern up.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I stated minimum powder is due to the sound barrier, round balls require emense kinetic energy to break it & remain at that speed down range so I figure adding more powder won't help much unless I add more pellets to thicken the pattern. So 32" huh? Sounds reasonable. What granulation do you use?

I use FFG.

Ok. Have you ever used 3f in it?

No. I use 2F for everything.
