My 54 cal is a tackdriver and I wouldnt hesitate to hunt deer with it. I am planning a boar hunt for early next year with my son and my gun of choice will be the deerstalker. KILLER rifle and mine is shooting 1.5 inch groups from the bench with patch and ball and 70 grains of Blackpowder. It outshoots many of my modern, scoped rifles...................John
