DefaultAntique gun cleaning?

How do you clean a antique gun without damaging it?

I have inherited a Remington 1863 Zouave from my father. I know it has been kept is a gun cabinet for the past 70 years and is in excellent condition. I would really like to clean it and do whatever I can to help preserve it but don't want to damage it by cleaning it the wrong way.

I'm really excited to have this rifle and want to do the right thing.

Thanks, Bob

You are wise not to blindly mess with it. I don't have a clue how to properly clean it up and do it right. My experience has been with more modern firearms.

You can join the Remington Society for (I think) forty dollars. At the very least, you should be able to find some information and a contact or two on their website,

Welcome to the FTF community. When you have an opportunity, head over to the New Member Introductions and introduce yourself to the gang.
