I've owned a lot of 22 calibre rifles over the decades and currently own a Ruger 10-22, Sig 522, and a S&W M&P15-22. If I had to choose only one it would be the M&P15-22 hands down. They're all good rifles so it's an individual choice, and you can't go wrong with any of them. I just prefer the M&P for a lot of reasons.

True Story about "Tactical .22" in home defense.

A few years ago, I came home from a party late at night. I was alone at the party but my wife was home sick. When I approached the front door I knew something was amiss right away, there was a hole about the size of a baseball splintered through the door.

I opened the door slowly to notice the lights were off everywhere but in the master bedroom. I heard scratching sounds, and weird aggressive chirping. My wife yelled to me in a panic to help. I ran toward her, stopping in the hall to grab my m-4/22, bull barreled picatinny railed up the a$$, with tactical light, laser, armison sight. Yeah its bad ass!

I ran into the room just as my bolt slamed closed on a round. My wife was in a corner surounded by 6 crack addled black gang banging muther fkers. They had crawled through the door after chewing the hole.

You should have seen the terror in their eyes, as that lazer bounced from perp to prp, lighting the way for the next round.

I was damn glad, I grabbed my tactical .22 that day.

You never know when you'll have to kill a half dozen squirrels in self defense.

I saw something really cool in a bar the other day.

A tactical beer fart. It was great, had rails,

a laser, strobe, 27 billion

candlepower-to- the-metric-ton -per -hour

lumen neon flashlight, bipod, with a tactical footlocker of MREs

attached to the stock, and a five-way stategic offensive

olfactory enhancer.

Yeah, and for only 37,248$. Seemed like a great deal to me...

I've enjoyed this thread.

I do have a question. Who here likes the direction that 5.56/.223 is headed? Do you think it would make sense to set up a dedicated. 22lr identical to your primary AR? Or how about a dedicated .22lr handgun set up like your secondary?

In the age of more talk less shoot do you guys think this might help change such a dilemma?

Or would it take all the fun out of your day of pointing fingers?

I don't personally own an AR anymore, I preffer the garand style action.

Having said that, If you own an AR, buying a .22lr Upper is a hell of an idea for plinking so you can stay familiar with ur controls.

There are those that enjoy modifying and improving their 5.56x45 ARs and there are others that enjoy doing the same with the 22 cal look a likes.

Tactical and Tacticool are just names that some individuals apply to whatever rifles they favor modifying or just playing with.

What ever any of the above individuals do is ok by me.....I have my big bore and 22cal look a likes.

I purchased an H&K 416 22 at a gunshow on Sunday. Haven't shot it yet, actually bought it for my son to shoot. I read and heard good things about this Umerex. Any opinions out there? JMB

I have opinions about umarex....

i have an M4 Ops (colt AR). I REALLY like it. But if you are looking for a 22 that is a clone to its big brother, UMAREX tends to not manufacture their firearms that way.

IMHO the Bottom line... More than likely, a UMAREX weapon will not have very many interchangeable parts or controls to the weapon it is desgined after. if this is OK with you, then I feel that UMAREX firearms are an awesome alternative.
