I am looking for a Winchester 62 gallery rifle in great shape. Any ideas where the best place to look?

Taurus still makes them- Taurus International Manufacturing Inc
In no way am I recommending a Taurus only telling you about them. Or go to gun shops in your area looking for a Winchester in good shape. A decent 62 will be $400 or more. I myself like the slimmer look of the Winchester 1906's. Good luck on your quest.

Actually, looks like Taurus dropped the Thunderbolts for 2012...not in the catalog at all.
Shame, cause they're better than the Henry slides...

Didn't Taurus buy Rossi recently...or something to that effect with some holding company?

A couple of years ago, purely by accident, I picked up a beautiful Winchester model 62 mfg. in 1937 in a gun shop in Stroudsburg Pa.. People call them gallery guns, but actually the gallery guns only fired the .22 short, while all the others fired short, long and long rifle. I've wanted that little pump since I was a kid in the 1950's, but for some stupid reason I purchased everything else, but that little .22. I only bought my many big boy toys and neglected to get what I always prayed for as a kid. I have other nice .22's that I've kept all these years, but none compare to this. It's non-factory engraved and when I saw it my knees buckled and is the prettiest one I've ever put my hands on. It's a tack driver and looks and works like brand new. I feel I stole it considering what I paid. I tried to get a letter from Cody Wyo regarding it and was told the records were destroyed. That's OK, cause when I shoot it I feel like I'm 12 years old again shooting at that old shooting gallery in Coney Island.

BEAUTIFUL rifle!

Umm- Taurus has owned Rossi for several years.

To the OP- if you want a Winchester 62, got out your checkbook, take a DEEP breath, and go to gunbroker.com or gunauction.com. There are several up for sale. Not cheap.

If you have never bought a gun on line, remember that you will need to ADD shipping costs, and the cost of paying a local dealer to receive the rifle for you. If you need more info on the process, drop me a PM.

They seem to pop up locally from time to time. Check some mom & pop places that sell firearms around your area. As C3 said its not gonna be cheap. Best of luck finding one. (BTW im partial to the 61)
