Winchester 67 wont fire! Help.

I picked up a model 67 recently for next to nothing. Got it home. Loaded it up and "click".. Didn't fire. Looks like everything is a little loose. Firing pin doesnt look too worn but I've never seen a new one so couldn't say for sure.

With the bolt in your hand press the cocking knob forward. You should see the tip of the firing pin protrude enough to be visible. If not it most likely just has some crud in there stopping it from coming forward. Clean and lightly oil then shoot 'till you run out of ammo.

The number one step in correcting issues with 22 rimfire guns is a good cleaning. The nature of the ammo causes more crud per shot than any other type of ammo. People tend to shoot many times more ammo through a .22 rimfire so the problem is exponential.

Remove the bolt and inspect around the rim of the chamber if your firing pin is good. A lot of dry firing can make a recess in the chamber since these barrels were made from soft steel. This recess will cause misfires. A lot of times the recess can be ironed out with a special tool that swages the metal back into place.

I never take for granted that the gun I am about to fire has had proper maintenance and care by the person handing it to me.
