I keep hearing ammo production is up to pre-crisis levels but I see little evidence of this in my area.

Shotgun ammo is the exception. I was able to pick up as much as I wanted by being a Cabelas Club Member, even got FREE delievery. $60-70 for cheap stuff and $90 for AA & STS.

I haven't seen a bulk pack of 22 for sale in over 3 years. I have seen 22 Mag but even that has dried up.

I have been forced to stop shooting as I am down to my last couple hundred rounds. I have 3/4 of a brick of subsonic fodder that I never liked and it alot as quiet as I had hoped.

PS: If you have critter problems, low velocity 22 short in a 23" barrel is impressive. The sound of the hammer's impact is louder than the report of the round going off. Still capable of dispatching raccoons but - like all hunting - you must pick your shots.

Wonder why there is no "investigave journalism" on this supply/demand shortage mystery ?

So yea I dont think well ever see 25.00 bricks ever again
Complete BS. Bullets are made from recycled lead and have been for a long time. There are plenty of smelters for that in the US. It is much cheaper to mine and smelt lead ore overseas than in the US.

Some 22 weapons like certain brands and won't go bang every time with others.
Just checking.

honestly its the 22/22 mag thing here that simply won't get better. in fact, it almost seems worse than it was 6-9 months ago.

223 is back strong, but probably 20-30% higher on average (good price WAS 25-35 cents a round, now its 40+). 9mm is hit and miss, but generally available. everything else is pretty much back to normal here for the moment.

shotgun ammo, for whatever strange reason, was never affected at all.
