Default Why, why, why is .22 ammo still so difficult to get???

Heh I was at a local Gunshow today as well TWW! We decided instead of getting one Brick of a single brand, We bought a few boxes of each we found. The actual prices for Bricks was down considerably since the Last show in Nov.,..
$60 for 500 CCI Blazers, $65 for the Anguila super maximum's, $40 for the Thunderbolts( I passed-guy even offered me a brick of T-Bolts and 2 Jiminez JA-22's for $200,... Still passed), and By the time we got there at 2 PM my local guy had sold his Bricks of the Federal Blue Box,..so all he had was loose.

In short, 5 boxes(50 ct.) of Anguila Super Maximum(yes, the box says Range: 2miles)40 Gr., rated @ 1750fps, $37.50, and 5 boxes of CCI Blazer long range 40Gr. rated @ 1450 fps., 3 for $22, 5 for $33( we took the 5) plus 2-100 rd. Trays of Remington Yellow jackets($11.99 ea.) and from my local guy, 4 more Federal Champion Blue box, $26. So guess who's Shootin 22's again tomorrow?!?!?!?!!!
Also grabbed 100 rds. Of "Bagged" 9MM 124Gr. RN, 25 Rds. Of Hornady CD's(@$14.99!!!) 25 Rds. Of 115Gr. SJHP's($12), 50 Rds. Of "Bagged" 38 Spl. 148Gr. DEWC's, and 2 more 25 Rd. Boxes of the Hornady 38 Spl. Critical Defense "Lite," and a 100 Rd. "Bag" of 158Gr. +P 357's... It was a Bullet kinda day,...also wanted a Ka-Bar style 18" sword,..but the guy doesn't do plastic,..also got a new field medical Bag,..but got it cheap with only a few basic items,..gotta fill the rest of it myself...
Also got a suspenders & belt rig combo with both a Drop leg(ambi) and a hip rig( wear either or Both holsters..) for $80.
Also bought a Gong Target( but they have to ship the stand), and another spinner...

Guns we Drooled over: an 8" S&W 617 stainless in 22LR, a custom BHP long slide(6.5") many SS Colt 1911's KEL-Tec's at NORMAL prices,..including P11's PMR-30's, a PLR-22....several pre-580 Mini-14's, several custom Grip & Framed LCP's, LC9's, and a matched pr.( consecutive #'s) of LC380's, a few two toned SR9's and 9C's. And a very nicely engraved 10/22 takedown in stainless.....the Rossi Judge Carbine( customized by last owner-stainless barrel and action Pakerized, 1-4X20 shotgun scope, engraved stock, with 3 boxes of Win personal 410/45 Colt, plus a box of the Hornady 410 Triple Defense, and 40 rds. Of #5 shot, and 40 rds. Of 00 Buck..he wanted $500.....

Almost walked out with what would have been my 3rd Springfield M1, in OD green synthetic..came with 4 black Magpul 20 rd. Mags and 4 OD 10 rd. Mags(120 rds.)...and a Tas

Oh,..for you Springfield and Glockophiles: the guy running that table for a GS from Flag(Staff) told me it's been at least a month since he sold a Glock, and prob. Longer since selling an XD...he had Two tone 92's and SS M9's & M9A1's at just above cost,......

I refuse to pay anywhere near that much for .22. I just won't do it.

As for guns, we saw one of these, only it had a 10" barrel IIRC. Damn, they are heavy.

S&W 500

Very sweet,...we saw some 629's and a 454, and a 500. A used table had some one selling a Ruger 44 mag. Carbine, several 10/22's and Mini-14's and a few other Ruger long guns..one display case with nothing but S&W wheel guns from M-36's all the way up to Gov's, and other guys with just about any private sale you can dream up. The Springfield guy I mentioned had like a Dozen different M1's,..a guy making custom O/U Shotguns,...another day I could have spent a lot more $ if I had it,..and some more over what I did have anyway...
I Saw a few judges, including the Judge Revolving Carbine,..even saw a 410 Ga. Saiga with a bunch of mags, including a 30 Rd. Drum....

It's weird, weeks will go by with nothing, but when the local WalMart(s) get .22 it's usually a lot. They had probably 30 or more of the Remington 525 counts this morning for $22. Three box limit, I picked up a couple, left my third for the next guy. I'm guessing it was all gone in less than a half hour.

I picked up those same Stingers at Wal-Mart and that same weekend at a gunshow one of the sellers wanted $20 each. The gougers really piss me off. I've sold off .22 to people who need it for what I have paid. I have a decent stockpile but at this point I buy to keep some of it out of the hands of the gougers.

Found one cheaper, did not buy it - Winchester 525 box for $55.

Yes these prices are getting old, compared to before price of $18 a brick.

at least it's Coming down,..and it's available. Anything over $50 is a bit much, but 6 Months ago there was NOTHING around, and If you Got a Brick(like I did Federal 550's for $49.99) you(we) were Overjoyed! Hopefully we have some better availability over the next few months...
