I shoot waaaaay more .22 lr than anything else. It just doesn't seem sensible to spend a ton of money to get the same amount of joy that I get with my .308. Next, I shoot shotguns, which are cheap enough to shoot but don't compare to the price of a .22. Hey, anyone know a good cheap .22 scope for under $50.

Better ammo can shoot well inside an 1" at 100 yards with many bolt rifles and some autos. My regular ammo is wolf / sk match and useing a 50 yard zero 100 yards is right at 7.25" low and 200 is about 54' low.
kansas45 what is your zero, 125 yards.

Sorry I didn't mention that. I zero my .22 rifles @ 50yds. Except for a couple that I shoot squirrels, turtles & other dangerous game, those have a 25yd zero.

It's the only thing I can shoot lots of and not feel guilty about, the cost of centerfire takes the fun out of it for just target practice.Plus what else can you put like 300 rounds of in your jeans pockets and walk around the woods shooting stuff?

Despite what liberals may say, guns aren't all about killing people and critters. (Not that some critters aren't tasty, but I'm a city dude!) I've got my 9mm pistol just in case a crazed home invader attacks my home. I've got my historic weapons because they are an interesting way to experience history. But, for fun, for going to range and just blasting away, I've got my .22's for that! They are cheap to shoot, don't have a lot of recoil, and they are accurate!

22 for fun and just shooting the crap out of stuff high powered rifles for testing my ame in accuracy of long range but for the most part I shoot my 22 just because it's cheap enough to put 500 rounds down range every time I go shooting

You put it exactly right! I spend hours just walking around the woods with about 150 rounds in my pocket just shooting stuff.

there are thousands of examples that demostate the KILLING power of 22LR. true, not much stopping power, but i don't understand why people doubt the danger of the 22 (and i mean dangerous to humans). this round is NOT a toy.
every serious shooter should have at least 1. so cheap, and great for sharpening skills. oh...and in semi-auto....just plain fun.
