Honestly from everything I've ever heard, if you could only take one gun into a (living off the land) survival type situation, it should be a .22! You can feed your family, it's fairly quiet, and ammo is cheap. Comments like that make you sound foolish and uneducated. If .22 is so terrible why is it so popular? It is likely the first caliber most people will ever shoot, not to mention it is great for small game.
