Why a 10/22??
Ive been thinking of selling my 10/22.. Its a Bicentennial model.. For somebody not into making a "tactical" .22 is there a reason to keep it? Ive shot it only like twice in the years Ive owned it, it really doesnt "do it" for me.. I have a Winchester model 63 and a Weatherby Mk. XXII that I enjoy so much more than the Ruger..
Like I said Im not really into changing it, If I change barrels its no longer a bicentennial model..

If you don't enjoy it or shoot it there is no NEED to keep it. I for one don't like getting rid of any guns. It's also nice to have a .22 around if you take someone new out to introduce to shooting. Ammo is cheaper for practice. You can use .22 rifles at indoor ranges where otherrifles may not be allowed. Of the semi-auto .22s the Ruger is easy to work on yourself, and parts are readily available. You could customize it and keep your parts and put it back in bicentennial configuration again later.
Just some thoughts.

Thanks for the input.... Maybe Im just feeling "snobish" The 10/22 is just kinda boring.. The only reason I got it was because I have the Ruger .44 mag, and I wanted a "matching" set, but my .44 isnt a bicentennial....
Its just my stock Weatherby out shoots all my buddies "spiffed-up" 10/22's

Trez,
it all depends on why you want to get rid of it. considering the above posts, do you not want a rifle around that you just don't like? or do you need the extra $$ like right now?
If it is $$, then by all means, sell it. Otherwise, it really is a good rifle for teaching or sharing on a range trip. do you visit relatives that don't have a rifle and you can't always carry one of your favorites? Maybe leave it there for those times when you are visiting & for them to shoot a bit. do you have a relative, or good friend, that does like it the way it is? maybe make it a present to them.
whichever way you to decide, a firearm is always a good investment whether it is for $$ or in a friend.
