Default Who wants to see the new Savage B-Mag?

WHO?WHO?

So I went in the 95 Degree heat to a LGS open house today. The Savage rep was there with a PROTOTYPE B-MAG. 8 round rotary mag, $350-ish, only available in synthetic stock for now. The gun felt VERY light, lighter than most I've handled. Very cool bolt handle on it. Since it is a prototype, it does not have the finish that will come on the guns. Which are scheduled to be arriving in a month or so. I was also told the ammo is set to go, and will be available in sufficient quantities. I asked specifically, and he said this gun will be manufactured in the USA.

If I had to take points away; it's a little small. Would be perfect for a small adult or a kid. Also, I told him he'd have a sale if it came in SS & wood. I have no doubt it will, if it takes off but for now, nope. The mag fits very nice, and the release works well, but it's a little small. The mag will definitely remind you of the 10/22 mag, but it's bigger, and seems more toy-like. (Not sure of the word I want, and it's not a big deal, but different from the 10/22 mag.)

No, there was no shooting it. Sorry. All they had to shoot was, of all things, a belt-fed 22LR......

That is a cool looking rifle. I'll take one in .22 Mag or LR.

Oops, I forgot to mention that it's only available in the new cartridge: 17 WSM.

I'm pretty surprised no one's interested in this thing, even on rimfire central, where there has been some chatter about it, and a section already dedicated to 17 WSM.....

I'm not. It's fugly and the .17 WSM doesn't impress me.

Well, it neither impresses me or not. I haven't decided, but we will see......To be honest, I agree with you somewhat on the Fugly part. Granted, the finish on this one is not what they will come with. Really, the only killer on the looks is the stock. I'm not much of a synthetic stock guy. (Although I do like the 77/22 "boat Paddle".)

I agree the stock is ugly. Guess we'll all have to wait to see what other offerings they bring in that department.
