If you want to know....The Dept. of Homeland Security just bought about 200 million rounds on top of the 1.08 million they bought last year. Even Police Depts. are having trouble getting ammo....

Not around here. You can't really get anything without luck unless you know where to do, even those are running out again. .22 has been non-existant and 9mm ran out today. Fortunately I already had several thousand rounds of .22 on hand as I had been on a buying spree coming into this shortage. I got the last 9 boxes of 9mm that were on the shelves around here.

I have an ammo can darn near full of 22, and just picked up a s&w snubbie in 38 spcl, I'm lucky I can find ammo for it around here, can find .45 acp here too, and shotgun shells, but no 22 or 9 or 40, or 223, but I'm lucky enough to have a small stash so I'm not too concerned with it at the moment, you can find ammo around here if your willing to pay arms and legs and first borns from private sellers.

Yeah, I wasted a half hour on their site trying to figure out how to get them to ship to AL before I messaged them and found out they won't sell to our area because they sell to retail stores in the SE. Of course this doesn't do me any good when my LGS doesn't have ammo and they do.

Yea, I spent an hour on their site one evening picking and choosing parts.....only to get to the end and realize they don't ship to GA either.

I can not say if this is true but it does make sence.

I keep seeing Herters TNJ ammo but I am not sure its any good. It's aluminum cases and nylon jackets.

Anyone have any experience of it?

I disagree with the professor. There IS an ammo shortage, he just simply stated the CORRECT reason for it.

Yes, you are correct. When supply cannot keep up with demand, it is called a shortage.

I agree with the last 2 posts. Say what you want, it is a shortage. Whenever there is demand that supercedes supply, that's a definitive shortage. The reason for the shortage is probably not what most people think, but it is what it is. I don't really agree that all ammo for the next 8-18 months as he suggests is already "sold" persay, as most would assume he means that they couldn't buy any for that long but it can be had if you are in the right place at the right time. Or perhaps he means already "sold" to the vendors who sell it. Either way, a shortage is a shortage.
