Just for grins I want back to the sporting goods area at WalMart yesterday. They didn't have any handgun ammo that I could see, no 22lr ammo and what ammo they did have looked to be high power rifle hunting ammo and only a very few boxes of it. Didn't check caliber but it's probably some of the less popular stuff.
On a side note, they had a decent stock of .177 cal. pellets but NOTHING in .22 cal.
Of course I've still got 750 left from my air rifle order. I'd like to order more too if I can.

Was just at cabellas in Connecticut. Ammo shelves are almost bare except for 10mm some 380 and blazer wax coated 9mm. Local Walmart bare today also.

Same here at a local WalMart. No handgun ammo but plenty 303 British, 30-06, etc. I spoke to the manager there and he said they're getting a small amount in each night but, it "appears" there's quite a few people aware of the delivery times and it's barely offloaded at the ammo section before it's consumed. I'm not hurting for it and will just let the dust settle. Seems like I remember folks doing the same thing over those Cabbage Patch Dolls and Beanie Babies awhile back...look how that went for awhile.

In 08 it took about 3 months for stuff to start coming back. Sound about right?? Seems to be the same everywhere.

Distributors are probably waiting with pallets of ammo sitting on the docks just so they can jack up the prices more.

This is interesting to me since I have a brand new .22 and can't even take it to the range. What is the general consensus on how long it will be before we start seeing at least some ammo consistently available. Stopped by Walmart this morning on my way home and the employee said that by the time he puts it in the case it's sold. Usually the first guy that walks up just buys every box.

I think if we don't have another crazy shooting incident that all the hoop-la will die down by early Spring and things may get back on track. By then the Obama bunch will see that they're not going to get any new anti-gun laws pushed through Congress and the public outcry to "do something" will die down as well.
It's just crazy when a person can't even find some 22lr ammo to shoot.

I found some at the local gun shop, but they were hording it in the back. You had to specifically ask for it. I see a lot of shotgun shells, and a box or two of .45acp but no .40/9mm/.357/.223

A friend talked to several ammo manufacture reps at the Shot Show in Vegas last week. It looks like it could be late in the year for 223/556. They have to retool to get more out. Two reps told me they would have a hard time filling Govt. orders, which take priority over civilian orders. I have no idea what's going on With .22. I go thru about 5000 rounds a month at our training facility. I have about enough for two more classes, then I'm out of business.

I have been stopping by my local Walmart every morning on my way home from work. They put their ammo out at 7am. They had 20 of the federal bulk packs of 22lr, and were limiting purchase to 3 per customer. Thought I would post this as it might bring some hope to the search.

Just received an order from TopBrass with 1,000 rounds of once fired, already processed and primed .223 brass and 1,000 62 grain SS109 penetrator bullets. My Lee Loadmaster is about to go into action!
