If anything kills the 22 mag it will be the new 17 Win. super mag. If it does kill the 22 mag it is going to take the 17 hmr with it.

There are just too many out there. It would have been like saying the .308 would kill the .30-30 back when it was intruduced. Just won't happen.

My .22WMR is such a fine rifle I would never replace it. I think the .17WSM will die a painful death.

.22 Mag, with all the basic features of the LR but twice the power, is the cat's pajamas.
Agreed. May not take a whole generation tho...

The ammo makers will decide it BUY and large -- lol. Enough people got swept up in the gunzine propaganda and bought the things. Now they see fewer guns chambered in it, fewer cheerleading articles, and now are getting worried but can't usually admit they see this johnny-come-lately on the way out.

what world do you live in? fewer manufacterers of the 17? since when?

maybe Hock you and Matt ought to get out in the real world every now and again and see things how they really are. with the huge decrease in 22lr ammo, the 17 is the hot rimfire again because ammo is plentiful. plenty of 17 ammo on the shelves here but very little 22lr.

There won't be ammo around for them except on Chinese collectors of American arms in less than half that timeframe. And in half that you'll be calling Old Western Scrounger to see if they have any I suspect.

Quick question off topic, but how much did a box of 22 magnums go for before this last election?

Hock, you are so far out in left field! seriously Dude? as long as people keep buying firearms and ammo, the manufacterers will keep making them.

again, you are wrong as usual. nothing suprising there though.
