I guess I wan't specific enough on my post coyote. The squirrels we hunt are out there by the hundreds of thousands and are like a small gopher. Not edible. If you take a banana and cut one third of it off , what you have left is the size of these squirrels. I love the 22 mag. My 95mn Marlin really groups the 50 grain federal hollow points the best with a ragged one hole at 50 yards. I shoot the 30 grain weight when hunting with it on these ground squirrels because they explode when they hit the ground and being public hunting land they do not ricochet. Good shooting.

I looked on the Marlin website, I guess that nice 1894 is no longer made in 22 magnum. Would like to find a nice used one. I love the 22 magnum as much as any firearm I have ever had. My first one was a bolt action model 783 , the one where forward on the safety was sage and back was fire.

Wish I'd kept the Marlin 783 that I used to have. It was like new too. However, I do have another like new .22 mag, a Winchester 275, a really cool little pump. I never tried the .17, but never wanted one. A coyote can be very tenacious, Hell, I can't even see taking one with the .22mag. But short of that, I like it a lot.

My Savage 93 is a beast. 30 gr. Hornady V-Max = 1/2 MOA, 5 shot groups @ 100 yards.

22 WMR isn't going anywhere.

Lots of manufacuresrs are making 28gr 22 wmr ammo that is very comprable to a 17 hmr. In fact, it's getting hard to find 60 gr wmr hunting ammo.

Still pretty easy to find 50-grain Federal Game-Shok's!! My personal favorite for Marlin & Grendel applications!!
