neither will ever be a distant memory, unless the Dems get their way.

Kinda like comparing a .243 with a 30.06. When its done being flat it's done being affective. what it gains in speed or flat it looses in effective range. 22 mag will still be effective when the .17 is in the dirt.

I'd like to see some faster-burning .22 Mag ammo developed for use in short-barreled handguns such as the Kel-Tec PM-30 and the NAA Mini revolvers.

Ummm, actually I have. Remember that lil side hammer I had. I reloaded .22 shorts and fired it a few times.

.22mag will always be able to shoot through a barrel of one of them .22lr/.22wmr convertible revolvers, that's an advantage over the .17hmr.Comparing .17hmr to .22mag is like comparing .270win to .30-06,same case, near same energy but just like the 30-06 vs 270,the .22 mag is capable of taking larger game over a .17hmr,gonna go through more hard stuff.

Two very different rounds, for different purposes. I own both. I shoot the .22 Magnum much more often, as I do feel it has much more versatility.
