Meanwhile, I've got 3 guns that use .22WMR. and plan on at least another three.
I need a Marlin 922, KelTec PMR-30, and a Grendel P-31...

I have had and still have 22LR, 22 Mag and .17 HMR. They are all good rounds but I prefer the 22 mag. it has heavier rounds than the .17 or 22LR and more puch than 22LR. the 17 is a flat shooter but I feel it is only good for hunting small varmints like squrells, etc.. At 100 to 150 yards the 22 mag is good for up to coyotes.

I liked what I saw of the PMR-30, but the few reviews I've read didn't go so well. A lot of feeding issues, some out of battery firing and a couple of other issues a can't remember off hand. Although one reviewer used the word "hella" so it's a little difficult to respect him as a weapon owner/tester and as a human-being.
If they can get the PMR 30 to run consistently I'll have to add one to my list.

The review I read said it was reliable but accuracy was just "ok." Ammo is a little pricey for just plinking purposes. If they tighten up the tolerances, I would love 30 rds on tap.

That figures, the couple I read were just the opposite. Ran like crap but was "pretty accurate" in the reviewers eyes, he didn't show us any targets though. One of them also said it was sensitive to how the mag was loaded, and the CCI ran better than the Winchester. I think they have some kinks to work out, but if they keep at it it should be a fun little pistol.
I have and Excel arms magnum rifle that has problems firing and cycling Winchester Super X. Seems okay with CCI Maxi-Mags but the magazines suck, so 100% isn't going to happen with my rifle until I can work out some issues with the mags.

My memory is going but I think it was an article in Guns & Ammo where the writer took on the myth of the good old days. Long story short, mags were not very reliable and you had to either get lucky or hunt for one that was reliable in your gun. One reason I'm a big proponent of revolvers for home defense. Side benefit, there's no doubt it's loaded, the hollowpoints are facing the intruder.

That's the problem I'm having with the Accelerator, the mags work a little better now that I have some oval style springs in them. Still not what I like and the followers really need to be made from a stronger polymer. So far both my defense pistols (9mm) have been perfect in regards to the magazines, but they both use Mec-Gar and I've never had a problem that was mag related with any Mec-Gar magazine. Both pistols and their mags get cleaned regularly though.
I'd never consider the Excel an option in a emergency situation, but to hunt small while carrying a decent back-up I would be bothered too much.

I just did a quick searched and it seems you're right, looks like PMR-30 production has stopped. Not sure if it's the end or if they'll try again with some design changes. I didn't read to see what the issues were, just found a lot of links announcing the halt in production.

I have had one on Order for six months but I have fired several hundred ends using my friends. No problems with good ammo, but had several FTE with cheap stuff. Bottom line, it was fast.....I heard Kel Tec shipped some to their distributors this week. Check on Gun Buyer you will see some listed by a distributor.

how is it that all of a sudden the .17 HMR is the most accurate. when set beside the .22 long rifle at 50 yards a good .22 long rifle gun will outshoot the .17 HMR. You don't see record groups shot with any .17 HMR shot from any rifle. I currently own them all and my .17's shoot well. But my .22 target guns shoot better. anyway just a question...
keep on shooten
