How did you find the year?? I have a model 5 and can only get within 2 decades of a manufacture date. Pre WW II, checkered stock and drilled and tapped for a side mount scope. After WW II no checkering and not drilled. Gun made from the mid - late 30's to mid 60's.

This Browning Gold Medallion Grade A-Bolt .22. It's without question the most accurate .22 rifle I own. I have it topped with a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9 X 40 MM in Leupold rings. It will cut ragged one hole groups for as long as you want to sit there and pull the trigger. The only thing better than the way it shoots, is the way it looks. I've had it for almost 24 years, and it shoots better now than when it was new.
