What is the real world advantage of copper plated ammo?
I know it cost more but if cost was the same, what is the advantage to copper plated ammo ? 22LR specifically

none that ive ever found when it comes to 22lr. lead just doent build up on 22 barrels the round just doesnt have enough pressure or velocity to cause any fouling in a barrel in good condition.

Many semiauto .22 rifles will have chambering problems with lead bulleted ammo. It can catch on the lower chamber mouth. The plated bullet tends to feed better. No real advantage in bolt rifles or revolvers.

It virtually negates having to use the wax lube found on lead bullets which causes a lot of fouling build-up during a long shooting session and allows for higher velocities. It also eliminates leading during lengthy shooting sessions. Rimfire lead bullets are fairly soft and will cause leading at higher velocities.

Ever look at a box of unplated 22's that have been around awhile, yuk. All that lead oxide probably dosen't affect there function but they sure are ugly! If I were thinking long term storage, plated is the way to go. Especially if they are going into a plastic pipe in hole in your yard.
