Hi all. I'm hoping I can get some help here. I inherited a rifle from my grandfather. On it is says Wards Western Field 14M 497B 22S-L-LR. In my research I found that this cross refernced as a Mossberg Model M42. Does anyone have any more info on this gun such as manufacture dates or values of other M42's sold or possibly a good site that I can find this on. I don't believe there is a serial number on it but I will have to double check. I also noticed that when I did some research I only found guns under the names of "Wards" or "Western Field" not a combination of both. What's up with that?
Thank you all for your help, it is greatly appreciated

Wow!! I too am looking for info about a 14M 495B 22 Long rifle that belonged
to my father. I am in need of a Shell extractor Spring that is screwed onto
the Bolt. ( The Name I created may be wong) It's either worn or broken, I
assume broken. Anyway I cannot eject a spent or live ammo.. Can anyone
lead me in the right direction to find a replacement part?
