Walther P22

Ok so I need input. The girlfriend has an upcoming birthday and she wants a pink p22(at least shes shooting) ive shot two before and both seemed great when I shot them, all reviews point to good quality and I know smith has a hand in there as well(importer?) However my concern is no reviews talked about ANY problems, ammo fussyness, or longevity off the firearm. I'm not nieve I know someone has had something..please just weigh in, personal experience here is small. Thank you

P22 have had several issues. Mine had all the issues. I finally got tired of trying to repair it and sent it back to S&W for them to fix it. Look up the Walther P22 Bible. Some have zero issues, some are more challenging.

My experience with the P22 has been very positive. That said I know two people who have them, one cleans his after each use and one does not. The one that does not has a much higher jam rate but that's to be expected. I also believe that the P22 has a higher jam rate than the Ruger Mark III but I don't have enough experience to say that's always true.

There is a problem review on YouTube.
I have an extended barrel model in my possession at the moment and I can tell you I'm not a fan of it. It's a pita to strip and the slide is gouging out the rails on it. I haven't had a chance to fire it yet. I personally would definately avoid the extended barrel model.
Just for perspective, I am actually a big WALTHER fan. The P99c AS was my first handgun.

my opinion the ruger mk3 is a much better gun. but here is the link to the p22 bible. http://www.freespeech.com/1917-1911M_P22_bible.pdf if you choose to go that way closely inspect it before you buy.

My P22 was reliable and ate most anything I fed it, except, Remington ammo. I broke it in with 300 rounds of CCI Mini Mags first though. However, the zinc alloy slide was always a concern to me and my gun wasn't accurate at all; my rear sight tended to wobble too. I ended up trading it in on a new Browning 1911 .22 A1 and don't regret it at all. I also have a SIG Mosquito that I will probably trade in too. It also has a zinc alloy slide. I just don't know on what I will trade it in on. Probably a .22 Colt or S&W revolver.
