Used .22 brass...what to do with it?
What do you folks do with your used .22LR brass? Searching here in the fourm reveals that it's dangerous to attempt to reload. So, do you save it all up and sell it to a scrapyard or something? About how much do you have to save in order to make enough back to buy another box of ammo?

Yup. RCBS (Rock Chuck Bullet Swage) started out selling tools to make jacketed bullets by swaging lead slugs into fired .22 rim fire cases.

yes you can use 22 brass for jackets and yes i had a set of dies to do it over thirty years ago and tried it. went to the club range and emptied all the buckets from the indoor range, man i was going to make bullets. to say they shot a decent group would be a gross misleading statement, but lets take a look at why they make them out of 22 brass. years ago when you couldnt get copper bullets do to it being in short supply the varmit hunters turned to making them out of brass they worked but not that great. save your cases, cabbage onto them from your range and sell them for scrap.

Highpower I,m not saying they dont as I have used them, what I am saying us they dont shoot that good pr atleast they didnt when i was doing it. The brass case seems like it was too soft for a jacket and most bullet jackets are thicker than they are. Corbin makes good stuff but you dont cast your cores, at least on a 22 you buy your core material in the foem of a wire nade of lead as it is more consistent in makeup. There use to be alot of benchrest shooters that made thier own bullets in the past I'm not sure of anymore with the bullet makers out there turn out good stuff.
Berger puts out a quality product and I would not hesitate to use his bullets if i was shooting a match. I gotr started into benchrest shooting by two guys that knew what they were doing, they took a young kid under thier arm and showed him what to do, I had fun doing it but it got to the place where you were just doing things mechanically and methodically, the fun went away for me, by the wat the two guys that got me going were JC Malsby who did gun work and made some good bullets and a guy named Walt Berger who woukld have ever thought that.
