Trying to identify what I've got

I will be the first to admit that I know very little about guns. I have inherited one that probably was last used in the 1940's and am hoping that someone might be able to give me a bit more info on it (so that I can figure out a ballpark value) based upon this information found on the rifle:

Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Model 89 22 short long and long rifle.
Winchester New Haven, Connecticut. Patent Pending.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum. Can you post some pictures for us? They help greatly.

I don't know of any Winchester Model 89--Marlin made an 89 in .22, but not Winchester that I know of. However, they made a ton of after market .22s--most bolt action single shots for people like Sears, Wards, etc., so maybe it's one of those. Is it a bolt action without any magazine (single shot)?

Thanks for your responses

There is a magazine and we estimate that it holds about 6 shots. Appreciate your response.

There was the 39 Cooey but it was a single shot.

Look REALLY close at that 8 in the "89" and make sure it isn't a 6. As in
model 69. Taht would be a bolt action 22 with a 5 or 10 shot magazine.

Second look

Yes, it is model no. 69. Can anyone give me a general price range for this? I would say it is in good condition. We may have a buyer, but we don't want to be taken to the cleaners either.

if i remember correctly neither the 69 or 69a had serial numbers but both were produced from appx 1935-early 60's
condition 100% 425.00 98% 365.00 95% 300.00 90% 235.00 80% 150.00 70% 100.00 60% 85.00
Add 40% for Target Model.
Add 20% for grooved receiver (Model 69A only).
Add 5% for chrome plated bolt handle and trigger guard.
