Much better would be a Weatherby semi-auto or an HK 270. I also like the Voere Model 2117. The only Ruger 10-22 I'd get is the heavy barrel target gun.

Also a shotgun wouldnt hurt. But if your looking for a single firearm id suggest a single mid range firearm in 5.56/223, 7.62x39 or 308
Or if you want to go a different route u could use a shotgun with different barrels. A regular hunting barrel, a slug barrel and a short defense barrel

I don't want to make any trouble, but I only know one guy who has ever lost a detachable magazine. I never have as well. Just saying.

It's nice, but I fired it and my opinion changed. The trigger was absolutely terrible. Gritty, and extremely heavy. I'd rather have a marlin model 70 papoose.

All BS aside. Your standard 22 is not designed as a SD weapon, when you interject all the ifs, ands & buts. However, if you become proficient with "any" weapon and are comfortable and confident with its use you most certainly can "defend" yourself. The out-come of that defense might not be the best. More is usually better. I prescribe to the Glock 30 & Mossberg 500 philosophy.
